Sweet nibblets! It’s a post before midnight! *gasp*

Happy Valentine’s Day!

My piece of Dove chocolate said this:

um..k?

So, I ended up not going to the Sterling House today because Katrina’s son was sick (kinda), so I actually got to sleep in today! It’s been so long! *single rolling tear*

Trina and I ended up going to lunch at Pizza Inn for copious amounts of pizza in and around my mouth.

Pizza Inn: The place where the lunch buffet starts at 11:00 and continues on UNTIL THE POWER IN PRAYER.

Oh Greenwood, I think I lose more respect for you each and every day.

Speaking of Pizza Inn’s general awesomeness…

Everyone one has seen a handicapped parking space marker at one point in time or another. They are pretty much all exactly the same, right?

As a refresher, here is what a normal one looks like:

Head, body, arms and legs….with a wheel…seems logical enough.

Check out Pizza Inn’s version:

OK, lets try to figure this out. Head…with a neck…connected to a body that goes diagonally inside of a wheel…arms(?) that are going backwards out of the torso/buttocks area.

Whoever drew these should win an award. CHAMPION.

Some of the lovely ladies of Psych 331, 1:50pm
(Jessica, Ashley, Andrea, Nicole)

That’s all for today. I have a ton of stuff to do before tomorrow so I better get to it.

I leave you with some pictures that Ashley took of the ladies…

And I can’t look at this one without laughing:

Yeah, I’m going to hell for that.

Today’s lesson: sittercise is no joke.

For those of you not familiar with the exercise regimens of the elderly, allow me to elaborate.

Sittercise features an elderly woman praising the benefits of exercise, even while sitting! So yeah, we exercised with the residents today, thinking that it would be a piece of cake…we were horribly mistaken. If I did sittercise every morning, I might just be buff.

We left early because we didn’t have much to do since Sherry wasn’t there and we needed to study for our 331 test anyway (more about which later).

On the way back to school I noticed this gem: [click photos for bigger size]

Looks like Miss Ann’s had a batch of that gold-plated chicken delivered. 10 pieces, only $985. What a steal compared to KFC! Oh and don’t worry, you can put that on your debit card. Miss Ann knows what’s up.

And one more, just for kicks:

3 for $1098? Hells yes.

>>Random Photo<<

So we got back to school ridiculously early, time which should have been used for studying…

Who says frequency polygons can’t be fun?! (Thanks to Katrina for the pretzel for scale)

….but instead was used for antics at the smoking section.

So our lack of studying showed I guess, because that test was ridiculous. Not looking forward to that grade…

After class I had the bright idea to, instead of going to the library to actually get something productive accomplished, come back home. As per usual, I fell asleep and completely missed my 6:30 class. Yeah, I know, I’m a champion.

Thanks Lauren for calling me out…haha.

Blue, 1:24pm

Well, that’s pretty much it. I’ve gotta go spend some quality time with Moby Dick before bed.

Until tomorrow,

I’m back bitches!

02-11-08

So, obviously, I took a week off. I had so much stuff going on with school that I didn’t even pick up my camera. My sleeping schedule was…off…to say the least. I was pretty much getting a couple hours every night and napping whenever I could find the time. But! I have returned to bore enthrall you with my daily ramblings about nothing.

ENGLISH STUFF

So I pretty much love my Melville class now…yeah I know, it’s hard to admit. I started out thinking that it would be on the very bottom of my decent classes pile, but it’s growing on me. I actually highly recommend that everyone read Moby-Dick at least once in their lives. Although some of it is long, drawn out, and anti-climactic, when you get into the deeper meaning of the story, it starts to suck you in.

It doesn’t hurt that I can apparently do no wrong in any class I take with Dr. Willis. He makes me feel like I’m a genius. Maybe I am. Who knows?

The plan for double-majoring is out, because I would have to spend an extra semester here and although I don’t mind Lander in general….I’m not gonna sign up for another semester of financial aid problems just to get a degree I won’t make much use of. Although I’m kind of upset that my resume isn’t going to be as fantabulous as I had hoped it would be, I’ll survive (and hopefully get into UGA without issue).

PSYCH STUFF

Katrina and I were recruited to present with Dr. Bassett (Wolf Man) for Psi Chi at a behavioral psychology conference at UGA over spring break and I am still attempting to work with Dr. Edwards and his research study, but considering the fact he is the most unorganized person ever, it makes it difficult.

…Research Experience? YES

My 331 group kicks major ass, so much so that the class is pretty much doing our proposal without change. Go us!

Dr. Acorn still makes me want to die a little. I’ve been doing…not so well….on her 304 tests, so I’ve got to kick it up a notch in that class and actually study more than an hour for each test.

Internship/fieldwork with Trina is going….um…alright. Sherry is way beyond getting on our nerves with her lack of anything remotely resembling a plan/organization for, well, anything. Hopefully she we will get her stuff organized soon and we can do some more fun stuff.

um…what else?

Got a haircut on Saturday.

There is some sort of funky substance in Greenwood’s water….this I have decided! 1) It tastes pretty horrible 2) It makes my face attack itself (same with my roommates).

Ew, look at my chin, 1:41pm

>>Random<<

Since Katrina and I started looking the stupid signs around Greenwood (Link) I’ve noticed a trend:

Other than the general stupidity of the wording on most of them, there is another whole group of businesses who are generally frightened of decimals. They’re scary…I know. The lack of decimals results in the price of an everyday object to skyrocket into something outrageous.

For example:

Unless that chicken is made of gold, diamonds, or jewels, I refuse to pay $1699 for 10 pieces of it!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I understand that it means $16.99 (I’m not quite that dense yet) but really….I’m almost certain that they make decimals for those types of signs. I’ve seen them! They exist!

Anyway, leave it up to me to notice stupid things like that.

My camera is charged and ready, and I’ll be taking my regular load of pictures again. So look forward (or don’t, see if I care) to more of these daily posts.

Yeah, you know you love it.

Night kids,

01-31-08

Typical Thursday. The Sterling House 9:15am, Lunch, Psych 331 2pm.

Sherry was sick today so we sat in her office and did paperwork the entire time we were there. My psychology field work officially has nothing to do with psychology. Katrina and I are free labor. Awesome.

Easily amused, 1:28pm

I have got to get motivated. I have to read 10 chapters of Moby Dick before tomorrow….haven’t started yet [well, unless you include my drunken ramblings to Ben].

My weekend to-do list is getting longer and longer.

1. Write abstract for UGA presentation
2. 3-4 page article summary for psych 331
3. Moby Dick presentation for Engl 406
4. Study for psych 304 exam
5. Chapter 4 presentation for Engl 345
6. Online assignment for psych 299
7. Read to at least chapter 41 in Moby Dick for Monday

Urgh.
I’m off to read. See you kids tomorrow

Weekend Update

Monday, January 28th, 2008

01-25-08, 01-26-08, & 01-27-08

The theme of this weekend was apparently “extreme lack of motivation.”

Exciting!

01-25-08

It’s official. I didn’t take one photo on Friday.

After my nine o’clock class I came home and fell asleep…and didn’t wake up until almost 2. Yeah, I know, that’s sad. I just haven’t been getting much sleep lately (mostly because of my extreme procrastination/stress) and I guess Friday was my day to catch up on some Z’s.

01-26-08

Went to work, as per usual. Out of the norm though, was the fact that my alarm didn’t go off and I didn’t get up until 5:45. I have to leave my house by 5 after 6 to get to work on time. Needless to say, I was a bit rushed.

Work was fine, for the most part… [click photos for bigness]

…until the espresso machine decided to break. We have two machines, one of which has been messed up for a while. The other decided to start to pull nothing but black sludge instead of espresso. Sounds tasty right? I thought so.

Anyway, so we had to use the other machine, which leaks. Considering the fact that those machines cost about $45,000 each, I can see why the hospital isn’t exactly throwing the money at us to buy a new one, but we need it.

Other than that, we were pretty slow.

Our mascot, 1:16pm

Tony, Kevin, and I went out for dinner and a movie that night. We me up with Ashley for dinner at Red Robin, which was quite tasty.

We learned new words.

We saw Juno [which I highly recommend], then went to Kev’s house. The following are the results from Kevin playing with my camera:

Attractive.

01-27-08 [Happy Birthday Jennifer P!]

Mom and I had a bit of a girl’s day out today. We went to the mall and shopped it up.

Photo of the Day:

Purchasing unmentionables, 1:57pm

We kept running into Katrina and Mary. I’m pretty sure they were stalking us. They even followed us out of the mall and to Steve and Barry’s. Haha!

Then it was back to school and back to procrastination. Tonight’s form of procrastination: The Little Mermaid.

Does anyone find it kinda creepy that Ariel was only 16? Anyone know how old Prince Eric was?

Anywho, I’m gonna finish watching the movie and then attempt to get some of my work done.

See you tomorrow!

P.S. Thanks to those who have made donations so far to the Wii Love the Sterling House Fund! If you haven’t, please consider it [even if it's only a dollar].

…we PROMENADE

[more about which later].

01-23-08

Photo of the Day:

Uptown (on the way to the doc), 1:50pm

Not too much happened on Wednesday. I was exhausted after my marathon day Tuesday. After classes, I went with Katrina to the doc to get her shot.

Afterwards, we passed by all the familiar sights of Greenwood including one of my favorites Captain Crusty’s Seafood and Fresh Market [aka the shack that sits a by the road on Main St.]

Now it may just be me, but isn’t the closest ocean hundreds of miles away from Greenwood? Tell me how exactly Cap’n Crusty gets his “fresh” seafood everyday? Sketchy.

01-24-08

Katrina and I officially spent over 6 hours at the Sterling house today [whew]. We helped Sherry decorate for a 1940’s themed prom. It was absolutely precious.

We danced, had some amazing punch, and listened to some good music from “back in the day.” We had prize drawings, too. It was a lot of fun. I took a ton of pictures [100+], but I cannot legally upload them here until I go through all the consent forms for the residents. As soon as I can I’ll post a few up here.

Photo of the Day:

lunch, 1:18pm [something that good can't be in black & white]

You may have noticed [if you are reading this on my actual blog, not facebook] that there is a new button at the top right beside “about.” That page is devoted to receiving donations for a Wii for the residents at The Sterling House. Sherry (activities director) thought that the Wii would be a great addition to her programs for the residents, but was concerned about the cost. So when Katrina asked me if I wanted to help her take up donations to buy one for them I thought that the internet would be a fast way to spread the word. Please click the link at the top of the page or CLICK HERE to make a donation or for more info. Every dollar is extremely appreciated!

Until tomorrow,
Juniper
