Cleanliness is next to Saneliness

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Yes saneliness is a word.

01-30-08

Rather uneventful day. I skipped out on psych 304 to study more for my lit essay test on Typee, which I hopefully did well on. Went up to school for psych 299, which was a waste of time. Went back home to clean my room, which was a disaster.

finding the floor, 1:02pm

My room is now immaculately clean. Thank God, it was making me angry.

Jen and I went out to eat at Chili’s, where she had a yummy $3 margarita.

Then we went to see 27 dresses. It was all kinds of girly, but it was really good. I recommend seeing it (if you are of the female persuasion or comfortable enough with your manhood).

That’s pretty much it. I have to go read Moby Dick and do some research. Yay.

Night kids,
Juniper

P.S. I have officially take 405 photos since January 14th. Not bad for a New Year’s Resolution, huh?

Shittles and Quesadillas

01-29-08

Just a heads up…

Chocolate skittles are a bad idea. An EXTREMELY bad idea.

I know you’re thinking about it….Skittles are awesome, Chocolate is awesome, so why not combine them and get the most orgasmic food ever?!

Chocolate skittles = shittles.

Anyway, today was a normal Tuesday, 9am to 9pm. Had to do crap busy filing work at The Sterling House today, 2 1/2 hours of psych 331 (a minute into it I already want to die a bit), and I’m pretty sure I completely failed my 363 exam. Yep, today is not a good day. This semester is killing me.

I have a paper due tomorrow and an English essay exam so I need to get back to work.

…but no update for today.

01-28-08

I completely forgot about taking pictures today.  It didn’t even cross my mind.

My roommates and I all had pretty crappy days so we are having popcorn and Disney movies therapy….all the while I’m attempting to get some homework done.  It’s not working out very well for me.

See you tomorrow.  I’ll do my best to not let the stress get to me and keep this thing updated.

Weekend Update

Monday, January 28th, 2008

01-25-08, 01-26-08, & 01-27-08

The theme of this weekend was apparently “extreme lack of motivation.”

Exciting!

01-25-08

It’s official. I didn’t take one photo on Friday.

After my nine o’clock class I came home and fell asleep…and didn’t wake up until almost 2. Yeah, I know, that’s sad. I just haven’t been getting much sleep lately (mostly because of my extreme procrastination/stress) and I guess Friday was my day to catch up on some Z’s.

01-26-08

Went to work, as per usual. Out of the norm though, was the fact that my alarm didn’t go off and I didn’t get up until 5:45. I have to leave my house by 5 after 6 to get to work on time. Needless to say, I was a bit rushed.

Work was fine, for the most part… [click photos for bigness]

…until the espresso machine decided to break. We have two machines, one of which has been messed up for a while. The other decided to start to pull nothing but black sludge instead of espresso. Sounds tasty right? I thought so.

Anyway, so we had to use the other machine, which leaks. Considering the fact that those machines cost about $45,000 each, I can see why the hospital isn’t exactly throwing the money at us to buy a new one, but we need it.

Other than that, we were pretty slow.

Photo of the Day:

Our mascot, 1:16pm

Tony, Kevin, and I went out for dinner and a movie that night. We me up with Ashley for dinner at Red Robin, which was quite tasty.

We learned new words.

We saw Juno [which I highly recommend], then went to Kev’s house. The following are the results from Kevin playing with my camera:

Attractive.

01-27-08 [Happy Birthday Jennifer P!]

Mom and I had a bit of a girl’s day out today. We went to the mall and shopped it up.

Photo of the Day:

Purchasing unmentionables, 1:57pm

We kept running into Katrina and Mary. I’m pretty sure they were stalking us. They even followed us out of the mall and to Steve and Barry’s. Haha!

Then it was back to school and back to procrastination. Tonight’s form of procrastination: The Little Mermaid.

Does anyone find it kinda creepy that Ariel was only 16? Anyone know how old Prince Eric was?

Anywho, I’m gonna finish watching the movie and then attempt to get some of my work done.

See you tomorrow!

P.S. Thanks to those who have made donations so far to the Wii Love the Sterling House Fund! If you haven’t, please consider it [even if it's only a dollar].

…we PROMENADE

[more about which later].

01-23-08

Photo of the Day:

Uptown (on the way to the doc), 1:50pm

Not too much happened on Wednesday. I was exhausted after my marathon day Tuesday. After classes, I went with Katrina to the doc to get her shot.

Afterwards, we passed by all the familiar sights of Greenwood including one of my favorites Captain Crusty’s Seafood and Fresh Market [aka the shack that sits a by the road on Main St.]

Now it may just be me, but isn’t the closest ocean hundreds of miles away from Greenwood? Tell me how exactly Cap’n Crusty gets his “fresh” seafood everyday? Sketchy.

01-24-08

Katrina and I officially spent over 6 hours at the Sterling house today [whew]. We helped Sherry decorate for a 1940’s themed prom. It was absolutely precious.

We danced, had some amazing punch, and listened to some good music from “back in the day.” We had prize drawings, too. It was a lot of fun. I took a ton of pictures [100+], but I cannot legally upload them here until I go through all the consent forms for the residents. As soon as I can I’ll post a few up here.

lunch, 1:18pm [something that good can't be in black & white]

You may have noticed [if you are reading this on my actual blog, not facebook] that there is a new button at the top right beside “about.” That page is devoted to receiving donations for a Wii for the residents at The Sterling House. Sherry (activities director) thought that the Wii would be a great addition to her programs for the residents, but was concerned about the cost. So when Katrina asked me if I wanted to help her take up donations to buy one for them I thought that the internet would be a fast way to spread the word. Please click the link at the top of the page or CLICK HERE to make a donation or for more info. Every dollar is extremely appreciated!

Until tomorrow,
Juniper

I got really busy working on stuff for school and lost track of time.  I’m heading to bed, so I’ll include Wednesday’s photos in Thursday’s post.

See you tomorrow.

Rules of the Parfait:

  1. Must eat parfait with spoon and/or spork. NEVER consume a parfait with a FORK.

  3. Must combine granola with fruit and yogurt. NEVER, under any circumstances are you to eat them separately.

Katrina and I started our wonderful internship at the Sterling House today. It consisted of 3 hours of cleaning out closets. It was psychologically stimulating….yeah, right.

Afterwards, we grabbed some lunch and headed back to school for our Psi Chi meeting and psych 331.

Photo of the Day:

lunch, 1:02pm

Yeah I know my photo of the day sucks. I wasn’t very motivated today, but it’s good to know that Zaxby’s serves the real stuff…not those fake chickens, right?

Barack Obama came to our school today, but I didn’t get to go see him speak because of class. Apparently it was a really good speech.

After classes I spent a ridiculous amount of time in the library attempting to get through some homework that I completely neglected to do all weekend. Ah procrastination.

I was starting to drift off [as I got about 3 hours of sleep last night] so I decided playing with the color settings on my camera would be more productive…

Next on the agenda: CAFFEINE

One iced soy chai latte with an affogato espresso shot. Considering the fact that coffee isn’t exactly my most favorite thing ever, I kinda have to chug it…but it works.

When 6:30 rolled around it was time for class. That was pretty much my day. I’ve gotta get back to studying/homework, and hopefully I’ll get some sleep tonight.

Until tomorrow,
Juniper

P.S. Is a zipper pull this large EVER necessary?

MLK Day Extravaganza

10-21-08

Proof that I will do anything rather than study/homework:

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! I celebrated by participating in massive amounts of procrastination!

Jen and I went to O’Charley’s for dinner…

mmm, rolls

…then to Walmart, and then got some delicious strawberry sorbet. Now, I am doing everything except what I should be. I’m awesome, I know.

Weekend Update

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

1-19-08 & 1-20-08

Apparently I missed the memo that this weekend was “Technological Failure Weekend ‘08.” My camera’s batteries died soon after taking the photo of the day on Saturday, and me, being the tard that I am, left my battery charger in Greenwood. So there is only one picture for this weekend, and it’s not exciting in the least.

Also, I’ve been fighting with my new computer since Friday night. I’m still trying to get everything I need installed on it, but with my internet dropping on me all the time it makes it slightly more difficult. So now that I’ve finally got things working properly on it (we’ll see how long that lasts), I can start to do some of the ridiculous amounts of homework I have to do before Tuesday.

Photo of the Day [(01-19-08) click for bigness]:

Work, 1:02pm

If you ever wanted to know what goes on behind the counter at a Starbucks, the answer is: a whole lot of nothing, that is, until 15 minutes before closing when suddenly everyone needs coffee ASAP and no one seems to know what’s on the menu.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves with customers. PLEASE do not stare blankly at the menu for 5 minutes then ask “what’s good?” What’s good?! Our tap water is fabulous. Thank you for wasting everyone’s time. The people behind you really appreciate waiting on you to make your order, no please take 5 more minutes to decide that you want a strawberries and creme frappuccino. Oh yeah, by the way we are technically closed right now, but I’m willing to wait. You’re THAT important to me.

Just for clarification: I am perfectly fine with the phrase “what do you recommend?” or “hows the such and such,” but when people that look like they just walked in off the set of COPS ask “what’s good” it makes me want to die a little. Take your 8 kids that are running around the store back to the trailer and stop asking me to make you “one of ‘em cappercinners like they gots at the gas station in ‘em lil machines.” Also, none of the cappuccinos come with “coo’ whip” and the word is grande not “grand.”

We cringe when we see you coming, we know you are going to be a pain. So if you’re wondering why your cup says “GSC” on it, it’s because we just made you a “Gas Station Cappuccino” which has sugar as its main ingredient with a side of coffee and a splash of milk. You just got a white chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut latte with extra whipped cream. Yes, I know you love it. It tastes just like the ones you get at the gas station of your choice for $1.00. You have a good day ma’am.

Anyway, I have work to do. Enough of my procrastination.

Until tomorrow,
Juniper

TB Scare ‘08: The Results

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

01-18-08

So I went back to the doctor today and heres the low down:
1) I have to take a one Isoniazid tablet a day for 6 months

2 ) Blood tests every month

and…

3) I’m pretty much doomed to have regular chest x-rays for the rest of my life.

Guess that’s better than being quarantined though, right?

Today was pretty uneventful, lack of sleep made me pretty much out of it all day. Insomnia sucks.

Grabbed some kick ass ice cream with my mom… [click for color]

mmmm key lime pie

…then drove home down the wonderfully exciting hwy 25.

I’ve always liked this house, I wonder who lives there. Maybe an old Southern Belle with hundreds of pictures of days gone by. I want a house like this, it’s so beautiful.
